Male horses 'exaggerating' the effects of horse flu.

February 8, 2019

With the outbreak of horse flu leading to the cancellation of all racing in Britain until Wednesday, at the earliest, an evaluation of the horses show that the males seem to be more heavily affected by it than the females.

It has led to claims that the male horses are actually making the most of people knowing there is an illness going around to get some rest.

"We've seen male horses with the flu unwilling to move distances or do anything for themselves while the female, despite clearly being ill, has got up and got on with it. It seems as though the females are showing that the males are exaggerating and overreacting," said Jock Trott, an experienced horse trainer.

Several trainers have responded saying that although horse flu does affect both genders, the males are more heavily affected by it.
