In a bid to promote body positivity, officials in CERN have renamed the Large Hadron Collider to the Curvy Hadron Collider.
They did not want people to be put off from visiting the underground tunnel containing the collider so decided to make changes to the name to make it more welcoming for those who visit.
‘It was feared that some people may have found the use of the word ‘large’ insensitive in this current climate. After all, the Hadron Collider was designed to be this size so comparing it to other colliders is irrelevant. It is also literally curvy as the tunnel containing the collider has bends and curves in it,’ said a CERN spokesperson.
